Black Mermaids, Tiny Scientists & Big Dreams
For the young ones, the Ocean Aweh-ness Kids Club is back, making learning fun, messy, and memorable. Meanwhile, the incredible Black Mermaid Foundation teams up with Adopt-a-Swimmer to offer educational underwater workshops for local kids — many of whom are diving into the ocean for the first time. No Plett festival is complete without a bit of salty competition. The Wedge Classic Surf & Bodyboarding Contest is coming in hot (despite the cool temps) from 7 – 12 July at Hobie Beach. Grab a front-row patch of sand and watch as local legends and up-and-coming wave warriors pull off epic moves, from double rollos to head-turning front flips — and yes, some wipeouts that’ll have you wincing and cheering all at once.
