Garden Route golf courses come out top again!

Golf Digest has announced its biennial ratings of the world’s best golf courses and the Garden Route golf courses come out top again!  Of the 20 best golf courses in South Africa, 7 are on the Garden Route.  The Links at Fancourt in George has not only been awarded No. 1 Golf Course in South Africa, but also made it in the Golf Digest’s Top 100 World’s Greatest Courses.  There are approximately 450 golf courses in South Africa.

Within the Garden Route the town of George boosts the most celebrated golf courses, with the 3 courses at Fancourt and the over a century old George Golf Course.  Within half an hour one will find Pinnacle Point in Mosselbay, while another 2 great courses can be found in Knysna.  These are Pezula on top of the Knysna Heads and Simola which is a Jack Nicklaus’ Signature Course.

Another 4 golf courses in the Top 20 are in the regions near Cape Town and the Eastern Cape.  These regions form a natural extension of the Garden Route, and most visitors to the Garden Route incorporate these regions into their itinerary when visiting South Africa.
