Here’s to a better 2021!

Traditionally we use the last days of the year to reflect on the year gone by, on the highlights, on the achievements and on the sad losses.  I didn’t want to do that this year, there doesn’t seem much to celebrate, to highlight…  And too many losses, in lives, and livelihoods…

I feel for those who lost loved ones, for those who cared for them until the last ventilated breath.  My heart goes out to those who lost their jobs and those who lost their businesses.

2020 has been tough.  And yet, there were highlights.  There was support from individuals, from organisations, from businesses and from government, wanting to support me as a person, and for Destination Garden Route to keep going. 

New partnerships were formed, new business ideas emerged, new proposals were submitted.  Some were approved, more new ideas popped up, new clients emerged, and even a few tours happened.  Little things, but ever so important.  Kindness, empathy and positivity – however difficult at times – became part of my life in 2020.  Yes, 2020 was bad.  But it wasn’t ALL bad! 

Thank you for your support, for your friendship, for your continuous interest in the Garden Route and Klein Karoo here at the bottom of South Africa.  While the virus may remain with us for a while still, the beauty of the Garden Route and its people remains too.

We look forward to welcoming you and your guests to our beautiful piece of paradise in this New Year!  Until we meet again in person stay safe and stay healthy… Cheers to a better 2021!
