De Rustica scores multiple Gold medals in the SA Olive Awards 2022

De Rustica Olive Oil has scored multiple Gold as well as Silver and Bronze Medals at this year’s SA Olive Awards.  Judged by an expert panel of international and local judges, the main objective of the SA Olive Awards is to give official recognition to the country’s extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) producers’ commitment and continual pursuit of excellence, in spite of the challenges faced during the year.  This year was the 17th time the SA Olive Awards were held.

This year’s annual Olive Awards attracted a total of 119 entries from 49 producers – an increase on last year’s 113 entries from 46 producers.  The highest-scoring gold medal winners from the SA Olive Awards are entered into a further round of judging and the top EVOOs selected for the prestigious Absa Top 10 Olive Oil Awards, which will take place on 7 October 2022.

De Rustica won a Gold Award in the Delicate category with its ‘Estate Delicate’; while in the Medium category it won awards for its ‘Collection: Coratina’ and ‘Estate Medium’.  De Rustica was one of only three producers who scored multiple Gold medals this year.

De Rustica Olive Estate is situated deep in the picturesque Swartberg Mountains, only a few kilometers outside De Rust near Oudtshoorn in the Garden Route’s Klein Karoo, South Africa.

De Rustica is a triple gold award winning olive estate which apart from the highly successful olive oil division also has a large selection of domestic farm animals and is especially proud of the high quality of its sheep and cattle herds.

The farm’s accommodation includes guestrooms as well as a luxury 3-bedroom house.  De Rustica also offers daily tours showing the process from olives to olive oil, including tasting different olive oil cultivars and intensities.
